IQAC of BCM College organized National Level Seminar on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Education: Challenges and Opportunities’ sponsored by College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh on March 7, 2026. Principal, Dr. Monika Dua welcomed all the esteemed guests and deliberated on the relevance of the chosen themes and sub-themes in the contemporary times.
Keynote Speaker, Dr. Maninder Singh, Professor & Chief Technology Officer, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala articulated with remarkable clarity on ‘Redesigning Education for the AI Era’ stressing the democratization of knowledge, the salient dimensions of Artificial Intelligence and
the promise of green algorithms. His discourse illuminated how embracing these elements can transform education into a more inclusive, sustainable and forward-looking enterprise. Sh. Suresh Munjal, Trustee BCM Foundation, Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary College Managing Committee, Sh. Amitava Ghosh, Director School Education, BCM Foundation also graced the occasion. Speaking
on the occasion, eminent Resource Person Dr. Anshu Narad, Professor, Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar very comprehensively deliberated on the topic- ‘Rethinking the role of teachers in AI embraced society’. She articulated with great
finesse how the role of a teacher has evolved from being a mere transmitter of knowledge to becoming a mentor and guide in an AI-driven world. She also drew a clear distinction between an AI-supported society and an AI-embraced one, offering profound insights into both. Her session concluded with a brief yet
engaging question-and-answer round, which proved enlightening and thought-provoking for all in attendance. Resource Person of the day, Dr. Kiran Jyoti, Professor and Head , Computer Science and Engineering, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana prudently talked about ‘Artificial Intelligence and Education and Ethical Dilemmas of Artificial Intelligence’. She eloquently reflected on the significance of Artificial Intelligence in education, highlighting its diverse applications while addressing the ethical dilemmas of an AI-driven society. She further emphasized the irreplaceable role of empathy and the emotional bond between teacher and student- a dimension that technology alone can never replicate. Addressing the gathering , Dr. Prem Kumar, Secretary,
College Managing Committee extensively spoke about the opportunities and challenges that Artificial Intelligence presents in the contemporary era, emphasizing how obstacles can be transformed into avenues of growth. He also highlighted India’s emergence as a global marketplace and underscored how the
world increasingly looks to India as a rising leader on the international stage. Principals of various Colleges & Schools and Delegates from various educational institutes and Universities enhanced the grandeur of the Seminar with their iconic presence. The National Seminar culminated with Valedictory Function,
gracefully presided over by Dr. Prem Kumar, during which certificates were ceremoniously conferred upon the delegates and participants, marking a dignified conclusion to the proceedings.
